I snoozed my alarm this morning a few times, and it was 530 when I finally got out of bed. I checked the weather, and I am really surprised that I wasn't scared off by the 80 degree weather with 91% humidity! I didn't run yesterday -- so I really wanted to make sure that I got a run in today.
I decided that this weekend I was going to run a 5k distance in preparation for my race in 13 days! I ran Week 4 Day 3 of my C25K app and then when I got to the cool down time, I went back to Week 2 Day 3 to finish out the distance. From the first three minute running segment I didn't think that I was going to make it. I felt slow and sluggish.
But, I kept going after those first three minutes, and the new route really helped me to keep going. I stopped to take a quick selfie when I passed by the cemetery in the downtown area. The downtown area was more not-flat than I thought. But, I made it the whole 3.1 miles and then I walked the rest of the way home. A run was a great decision this morning, especially since I got about 6,000 steps just from my run when I had half of that for the whole day yesterday!

Is that the cemetery we visited when I was there? I do remember some hills in that area. Great for going the distance and exploring new routes.
ReplyDeleteI decided I didn't need to get up so early to beat the heat today since my activity would be inside so I set my alarm for 0530. Got up a little early then hopped on the rower after a spoonful of homemade power goo and some water. Still not feeling great but I wanted to go the distance without having to stop. Chose a goal to finish 1 hr 56 min. Without ramping it up early, there was no wiggle room to dash to the potty or turn on yet another fan. Kept it steady and finished at 1 hr 57 min 6.9 sec. I'm okay with that considering I didn't work very hard. I wish I could run a half marathon that fast.
Still it was only 6 minutes slower than the last time and the room was 84.6°(a fourth fan would have made a little difference), along with not feeling 100%, that's not bad.
